You must be 18 years old or over or have the permission of a parent or guardian to use this service.

Meelie is a consumer recycling website. Business enquiries should be directed to sales@meeliemobile.com. Customers recycling more than 3 devices may be considered as business users.

As a UK company in England, we are governed by the statutory legislation of England & Wales. Unresolved legal disputes must be settled by an English County Court.

Your device

Eligibility of device

Your device must be of UK or EU origin. We do not accept non-EU devices.

If a non-EU device is received by us, it will be placed on hold and will not be processed for sale. The device will only be returned to you once a £35 handling fee has been paid in full.

If the handling fee is not paid, the device will remain in our possession until payment is received.

Where a new device is supplied with a manufacturer-provided UK 3-pin plug, this must be included. Failure to include the original plug may result in a reduction in the device’s valuation.

Legal right to sell

You must be legally entitled to sell the device that you send to us. This means the device must belong to you and you agree that ownership will transfer to us upon acceptance of the sale.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the legal right to sell your device.

Security and Background Checks

All devices are subject to a review against the National CheckMEND register to identify any ‘red flags’ that may be raised against your device. This will include both a blacklist check and an AssetWatch check. See section 3.1 for further details.

Finality of sale

Once we issue payment to you, the sale is final and your device cannot be returned. By posting your device to us, you commit to selling it.

Condition of Your Device

Your device must meet the description that we have agreed with you. We may reject your device if it has been modified, altered, or tampered with in any way that prevents us from processing it.

3.1 Blacklisted, AssetWatch, insurance claim and uncompleted trade-in devices

Do not send us a device that is lost, stolen, part of a trade-in deal, subject to an insurance claim or currently under AssetWatch. We check every device against the national CheckMEND register to identify any ‘red flags’.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your device is clear from any ‘red flags’.

Devices from networks (especially EE) or rental companies may be subject to AssetWatch, check with your network that you have the right to sell the device, particularly within the first 6 months of a contract or the full length of contract for rented devices.

If your device appears on a blacklist database, or triggers AssetWatch we will quarantine your device for 28 days, provide you with your certificate ID which you can verify independently and provide you with the contact details of how to contact CheckMEND.

The item will be held in quarantine where this must stay until:

  • 28 days have elapsed.
  • A member of law enforcement has requested collection of the item.
  • The rightful owner (subject to sufficient evidence of ownership) requests collection of the item.

If we suspect your device may become blacklisted or red flagged, we may withhold payment for up to 28 days to allow time for it to appear on a database.

You must resolve blacklist, AssetWatch, insurance claim or uncompleted trade-in disputes with the database provider yourself. We cannot handle your device or proceed with a sale whilst your device is red-flagged including blacklisted, under AssetWatch, subject to insurance claims or blocked due to uncompleted trade-ins.

If we have already paid for your device and later find it on a blacklist, or the device is blocked due to an uncompleted trade-in you agree to return payment within 3 working days, after which we will take steps to recover the money owed plus additional costs.

Where the mobile phone or device is not cleared from the CheckMEND register successfully within 28 days, and no claim of the item has been made by either law enforcement or the rightful owner, the following options become available:

  • You can request to have the device returned, subject to a return handling fee of £35.
  • Have the item disposed of without compensation.

  • Once the device is in our possession, it may be resold. We are not liable for any charges, data usage, or other costs incurred as a result of an active eSIM being used by a new owner.
  • We strongly advise all customers to contact their network provider prior to sale to:
    • Remove or delete the eSIM from the device.
    • De-register the eSIM from their network account.
    • Ensure the device is fully disassociated from their contract or plan.

Failure to do so may result in unauthorised access to your mobile plan or personal data, for which Meelie Mobile cannot be held liable.

4 Payment

Our prices are under constant review, with many variations of models and prices for different conditions of devices to keep up to date, your quoted price is conditional upon receiving your device within 10 days, errors and omissions excepted.
